The Company through its operations aims to facilitate the Cement, Steel and Power Generation industries that currently operate on imported high GCV coal. In addition to kick starting the coal beneficiation industry in Pakistan, the process of coal beneficiation would also offer a substitute to the currently imported high GCV coal.
At present, Pakistan’s annual coal consumption is calculated at around 10 million tones catering primarily to Brick-Kiln, Cement and Steel Industries. The local demand of High GCV coal is in surplus to plant’s production capacity.
Cement sector alone has an annual demand of 2.7 million tones which is well in excess of plant’s annual production capacity of 1.2 million tones. Hence it can be concluded that the coal beneficiation plant has the potential of offering substitute for the currently imported coal.
